What is Fundal Height?
Fundal Height is a way to measure a pregnant belly to see if the gestational age is compatible with the uterus size. A baby growing inside of the womb of a pregnant woman will have a Fundal height measurement in centimeters that will match closely if not exactly with the amount of weeks the mother is pregnant. For example, a woman who is 33 weeks pregnant should have a Fundal height measurement of 32-34 centimeters.
How do I measure my Fundal Height with the Mommy Measure?
Place the beginning of the Mommy Measure on the top of the pubic bone and stretch out the tape to the top of the uterus. Next, mark your measurement on the Weeks Pregnant scale once a week. For more accurate readings perform measurement laying down.
The Weeks Pregnant Scale represents where you should be measuring for your Fundal Height. You should mark on the scale where you are currently measuring in order to see if you are measuring above or below your current week of pregnancy. For example, you may be in Week 25 of your pregnancy but are measuring just below Week 27 on the scale. We suggest that you mark your measurement on the scale just below Week 27 and then write Week 25 next to your measurement. View Example>>>
